"Gazprom Neft” and the University of Mines held the III Conference on Development of Hard-to-recover reserves
Specialists of “UNTC” LLC took part in the III International research-to-practice conference “Issues and experience of development of hard-to-recover reserves of oil and gas condensate fields". The Conference was held in the National Mineral Resources University (University of Mineson Vasilievsky island. A discussion of oil-and-gas potential of Russian Arctic shelf was also expected by the organizers of the conference, but in fact there were almost no materials provided in this regard. Two days earlier a lot of reports were presented, but the most interesting, from our point of view, were reports by the SPD specialists “New methodology of core sampling and examination”, “Employment of technology of radial drilling on the reservoirs of the West Salym oil-field", and the report by Alfred Davletbaev that was dedicated to the organization of pursuance and interpretation of dynamic well test, and potential issues of interaction with service companies, carrying out these researches.
The held conference can be noted with a number of features. The first is the venue and the main organizer of the conference. If in the future, the organizers manage to make the setting more informal, in our opinion, the atmosphere of the conference will be more comfortable for all participants. The second is the main focus of the conference and the introduced sanctions against Russia, in particular, the prohibition on participation in such events of subject matter experts. In this regard, experts from foreign companies, engaged in the hydrocarbon production, were absent. And taking into account that the general sponsor of the conference was and will be JSC “Gazprom Neft” most of the reports were presented exactly by specialists of JSC “Gazprom Neft”. Therefore, if these trends remain in the future, there is a good likelihood that this event will turn into the internal event of the company. This year thanks largely to the participation in the conference’s organization of experts of “Gazpromneft NTC” LLC it was managed to avoid it. We hope that next year the organizers will also be able to keep the conference at least at Russian level.
