Specialists of “UNTC” LLC took part in the scientific and technical seminar “New technologies of searching and examining of nonconventional hydrocarbon resources”

On May 30 in Saint-Petersburg the University of Mines hosted the interregional scientific and technical seminar “New technologies of searching and examining of nonconventional hydrocarbon resources”.

The problems of evaluation and development of nonconventional shale reservoirs of Bazhenov and Abalack formations in Western Siberia were discussed at the workshop. Development of shale deposits is now one of the most promising directions in the enhancement of resource potential and production of oil companies. Both Russian oil companies and scientific organizations and colleagues from foreign companies took part in the seminar.

Russian oil companies and organizations (JSC Gazprom Neft, RusPetro, SPD, CJSC “MiMGO”, University of Mines) provided information about domestic fields development practice, and about further plans for development of this direction. Foreign companies (Schlumberger, Weatherford) in their turn provided their experience and equipment for the purposes of evaluation, exploration and production of North-American ideal analogues.

Some reports should be particularly noted: “What do we know about the nonconventional reservoirs” (Zhukov V.V., “Gazpromneft NTC” LLC), “Modern technologies of studying and development of fields in shale formations and low-permeability reservoirs” (Petuhov A.V., University of Mines), “Microseismic monitoring of wells with multistage hydraulic fracturing to improve the effectiveness of nonconventional reservoirs development” (Mitin A.V., Weatherford), “New challenges in the development of hard-to-recover resources on the fields of the Salym group” (Alevseev A.D., Evseeva M.Ya., SPD), “Experience of the special seismic processing for the purpose of prospective zones allocation” (Nemova V.D., CJSC “MiMGO”).

On the whole, the event allowed to reveal the main trend of search and development of shale reservoirs on domestic fields, and to consider different points of view on that issue.

Thanks to the University of Mines, the workshop was held at a high technical and qualification level!
